Managerial Skills

We have learened about organization and management’s basic and what managers do. But you may still be wondering exactly what it takes to be an effective manager. Are there basic managerial skills you can develop?. Skills are ailities related to performance that are not necessarily inborn.  For the purpose of our discussion here, skills separate into four group:

1.     Technical skills
4.     Conceptual skills
The realtive mix of skills required depands on the manager’s level, responsibilities, and functions. For example, skills needed by a store manager are likely to be quitedifferent from those needed by the regional vice-president, which operates all of stores. As you will see, the store manager probably needs relatively high technical and interpersonal skills, whereas the regional vice-president needs higher conceptual, interpersonal, and communication skills.
